Webinar Topic:
The Obama administration has proposed cutting CSBG funding by nearly 50 percent for the past two years and only funding “high-performing agencies that are most successful in meeting important community needs.”

Make sure your CAA can stand behind its efforts by learning about a number of online clearinghouses with “evidence-based” and “what works” practices you can use to strengthen your organization.  There’s even a new one specifically for Community Action and some examples of evidence-based programs used by CAAs will be shared.

Presenter Info:
Ken Ackerman is the creator of Virtual, which is designed to help strengthen CAAs across the U.S.  This nationally acclaimed website provides access to a vast array of information and resources that can be used in all areas of CAA operations from internal operations to program development.  He’s a certified peer reviewer for Pathways to Excellence in Community Action and has provided interim management assistance and direct T&TA to CAAs across the U.S.

Ken has lived and breathed Community Action for more than 40 years – starting in 1971 as a VISTA volunteer in rural Virginia.  He served as Executive Director of the Monticello Area CAA from 1976-2000 after working as the agency’s Chief Planner.

Ken has participated in more than 70 CAA conferences over the past ten years and has offered workshops on topics such as Strengthening CAA Boards, Strategic Planning – Moving from Poverty toward Self-Sufficiency, Accessing Resources to Help Your Agency, and Financial Management Tools.  He’s also provided leadership with numerous state, regional and national organizations.
